Small family-owned vineyard weaves their Oregon wine story into the heart of Portland’s Pearl District.
PORTLAND, Ore. — June 29, 2018 — Woven Wineworks is pleased to announce the grand opening of their new tasting room in the heart of Portland’s Pearl District on First Thursday, July 5th.
Located in the cellar basement suite of the former Blitz Pearl sports bar at 959 NW Couch Street, the recently remodeled 2,000 square foot facility integrates reclaimed and refurbished materials with an authentic, industrial design. The renovated space has been beautifully dressed with soft lighting and nostalgic canvas photographs honoring previous family members who have inspired Woven’s winemaking. The hope is to create a warm and welcoming environment where both Portland locals, and out-of-town visitors can enjoy an authentic Willamette Valley wine tasting experience without leaving the urban center.
Upon opening, Woven’s tasting room will serve $5 tasting flights as well as wine by the glass and chilled bottles to-go. The onsite retail shop will feature 14 different wines that have been thoughtfully crafted with sustainably grown grapes.
Elaina Spring is the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of the business. In addition to overseeing vineyard operations, Elaina has embarked on a personal journey to learn winemaking by mentoring with local winemakers at several different wineries.
“Only a handful of local Oregon wine producers have a physical presence in the downtown core,” explains Elaina, Woven’s Winegrower. “We’re thrilled to offer consumers in the city access to wholesome, handcrafted wines produced by a family-owned farm. People who live, work, and shop downtown can walk a few blocks to buy fresh baked baguettes from a baker, fancy house-made charcuterie from a butcher, creamy goat cheese from a cheesemaker, raspberry truffles from a chocolatier, coffee from the neighborhood roaster, and even honey from a rooftop garden. It makes perfect sense to buy wine directly from a small farmer right here in the big city.”
The tasting room will be open to the public Thursday through Saturday from 11am to 6pm. Extended hours will be offered on First Thursdays (open late until 10pm) as well as for monthly wine club events. The back area, separated by delicate curtains, provides a semi-private gathering space for educational events, workshops, and classes. The entire facility can be rented for private functions with discounted rates for non-profits.
“Above all else, we are a small family farm. We care about how our grapes are grown because our vineyard is where our children live and play. Our vision has always been that the wines we produce ultimately bring people together, cultivate stronger communities, and provoke storytelling. We are hopeful this new tasting room will do all of these things and more.” –Elaina Spring, Co-Owner + Co-Founder.
Industry guests, members of the trade, and local media are invited to stop by for a sneak peek of the new space anytime between 1pm and 6pm on Monday, July 2nd. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to schedule a private tour or interview.
